Paola Amaya

Therapist

Paola Amaya, LCSW, PMH-C, was born in NYC to family from Bogota, Colombia. Paola joined Chances for Children in August 2021 as a Clinician and is very excited to begin her journey in infant mental health. Before joining CFC, Paola worked as a bilingual trauma therapist at The New York Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, the first child protection agency in the world, where she worked with families impacted by interfamilial trauma.

It was through this meaningful work that she realized her passion in working with young children and the capacity for healing and repairing relationships. CFC’s mission and history resonate with Paola as she is passionate about supporting the mother-child dyad. Paola holds a BA in psychology, an MSW, and a post-master's certificate in child and family therapy from NYU. Paola is currently a trainee in Parent-Infant Psychotherapy at Columbia University. In her spare time, Paola enjoys taking care of her kittens, cooking, and learning to rollerblade.
